On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Chairperson of the Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva received the letters of credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People`s Democratic Republic of Algeria Mr. Lakhssan Boufares.
During the meeting, the distinguished guest was briefed on the priority areas of the internal and foreign policy of Turkmenistan and the progress in implementing the ambitious reforms in the country. The Ambassador was informed on the successes and achievements reached in the spheres of science and education, health care and culture, sports and tourism.
Underlining the huge potential for development of Turkmen-Algerian relations, Mr. Lakhssan Boufares expressed the interest of his country in intensifying mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan in the bilateral format as well as within the framework of international organisations, in particular the United Nations Organisation.
Evaluating the prospects for building up efficient trade and economic partnership, the diplomat emphasized huge potential in such areas as oil and gas and transport industries as well as electric power engineering.
